Melanie Day
Melanie Day was born in Somerset England. In 1975 she immigrated to Canada and settled in Toronto. She attended OCAD University Toronto. During the 80’s Melanie was a clothing designer in Toronto, with her own label and store on Queen Street West. Creating many looks for rock bands and videos. During the 90’s she moved from fashion to Film and TV as a set designer, scenic and special effects props builder. While also maintaining her painting practise with many group and solo shows. Melanie works primarily in oils on canvas.
In 2010 she started painting full-time. In 2015 Melanie moved from Toronto to Port Hope where she opened up her own studio/gallery for 9 years. She has been painting for 30 years. She has been included in many solo and group gallery exhibitions in Toronto, New York, Mexico, Vancouver and Atlanta. Melanie’s work has been featured on Cityline TV, Steven and Chris, Marilyn Dennis show. Her work has also been featured in many home design magazines, recently House and Home. She is a favourite among interior designers in Toronto and Chicago, with many private collectors. Melanie has recently moved to Picton where she has set up her own private art studio in her home open by appointment.
