Jen Vandenbroek
Jen Vandenbroek is an acrylic figurative painter exploring the individuality, strength, and idiosyncrasies found in the feminine. Her art is influenced by her fascination with expressive personal style and the story of color as it intertwines with memory.
Jen earned her BA in Art History from Calvin University and BFA from Seattle Pacific University, with a concentration in drawing. She has lived and worked as an art teacher and artist in Michigan, California, Washington and her current (and childhood) home of Calgary, where she lives with her husband and two teenage girls.
‘My intent as an artist is to capture the grace woven into the brokenness of human nature and the unexpected chaos of life. My work explores themes of friendship, emotional connection and the experiences that shape our stories. Getting under the surface and exploring what unites people is central to my work.’
