Carley McCutcheon

Carley is a self-taught artist, living and painting in Waubaushene, Ontario. Carley attended the University of Western Ontario for Kinesiology and also has a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University.

Carley grew up on her parents' maple syrup farm in Oro-Medonte and had a family cottage on Georgian Bay. The time she spent there as a child instilled a deep love for the smooth rocky landscapes, windswept pines, and expansive feeling that she has been trying to recreate in her paintings in recent years.

Carley works in oils and creates vibrant yet peaceful landscapes, largely featuring Georgian Bay and the Muskoka region.

She also works as a Registered Kinesiologist in Orillia, Ontario, and with her family producing and selling maple syrup at local Farmers’ Markets.

“I try not to paint pictures or places so much as to paint a certain feeling. That "ahhhh" feeling that comes over you when you are completely moved by a beautiful sunset or an inspiring vista, or when in a quiet moment the largeness of the night sky really sinks in and overwhelms.”
