Frequently Asked Questions
What is County Creative?
We’re a Pottery Painting Studio and Fine Art gallery located right on Main Street in Picton, Ontario!
How does Pottery Painting work?
Just walk in! No appointment needed. If you have a group larger than 6 people visit our Group Bookings page under Studio Services to make a reservation. You’ll choose a ceramic piece off the shelf, pick your paint colours, and enjoy some relaxing creative time. Once you're finished, we glaze and fire your piece. You return to pick it up when it’s ready!
How much does it cost?
Items typically range from $20–$80. That includes everything—your paint, supplies, glazing, and kiln firing. No studio fee, just tax added at checkout.
How long does painting take?
Most guests spend 1.5 to 2 hours painting.
When will my pottery be ready?
Your piece will be ready in about a week. Need it faster? We offer next-day pick-up for $5 extra per item.
Is it kid-friendly?
Yes! We love having little artists in the studio. Our paints are non-toxic, washable, and safe for all ages.
Is there a time limit in the studio?
Most of the time, no! You can paint at your own pace. On busy weekends, we may ask you to wrap up within 2 hours so everyone gets a chance to join in. If you can’t finish in one visit, you’re welcome to come back another time to complete your piece.
Do you host private events?
Yes! From birthday parties and bridal showers to work events and team-building nights, we’d love to host your group. Visit our Private Events page for more info.
Can I paint at home instead?
Absolutely! Visit our Take Home Kits page for more information.
Can I fire something I made elsewhere?
We do not offer kiln rentals.
I haven’t been contacted about my pottery—what’s up?
We don’t usually call or email when items are ready. At checkout, we’ll give you a pick-up date. If it’s been longer than a week, feel free to drop in or call us—we’ll be happy to check for you!
Where can I park?
There is no dedicated parking at County Creative. Please allow time to find street parking, or park at one of the free public lots in Picton.
Is there an age limit?
Not at all. Babies, toddlers, teens, adults—everyone is welcome here.
Do you offer clay or wheel classes?
Not yet—but we’re hoping to introduce handbuilding and wheel-throwing classes in Fall 2025. Stay tuned!
Will the paint stain my clothes?
Nope! Our paints are water-based and washable.
